Video Podcast Statistics 2026: Why PR Teams Should Stop Thinking Audio-Only

PR Hero Team

Hybrid-by-default podcasting: what PR teams need to change in 2026

If PR teams still treat podcasts as audio-only, they are planning for the audience of yesterday.

Coleman Insights and Amplifi Media show that 77% of podcast consumers switch between audio and video, and 70% use YouTube for podcasts. Signal Hill’s Canadian research adds that only 24% of monthly podcast users are exclusively video, while 76% still spend at least some time in audio-only environments. In broader 2025 data, 61% of podcast brand lift studies included video content, and 42% of weekly podcast consumers used YouTube for podcasts.

The key shift: podcast behavior is now hybrid by default. Listeners move fluidly between formats depending on context, not loyalty to a single medium.

Video matters, but audio still matters too

The data does not say that video has replaced audio.
