49. Helping my father die: The sacred work of being a death doula
Wed Feb 04 2026
Death is tricky business. Especially when you’re not ready to go. My father died of Covid unexpectedly and traumatically, and what I later found out had a profound impact on me, my understanding of the spiritual role I play for mankind and the evolution of my spiritual path.
My dad told me, through a medium, that I had helped him find his way home to soul world when he died. Because he was worried for our family, he had been hesitating to leave despite his pain. My words and actions helped him transition with a feeling of love, acceptance and peace.
The crazy thing is I had no idea the significance of the little things I was doing at the time. But now that I know, I realise I’ve been a death doula - a midwife for death - in past lives and my soul had unconsciously remembered how to help my dad. How beautiful.
Listen along as I share the details of the lead up to my dad’s death, what I’ve since learned about the role I played and how society so badly needs more of us to not be afraid of death so we can hold space for each other, in whatever tiny way, at the scariest time of our lives.
I hope this blesses you. Infinite love x
