Joining us to kick off Season 5 of Building Leaders Radio Hour is Russell K. “Rusty” Paul.  Rusty has served as the Mayor of Sandy Springs since 2013 and is currently in his third term, bringing more than four decades of experience in public service at the local, state, and federal levels. Before becoming mayor, he served as a Georgia State Senator, a founding member of the Sandy Springs City Council, and on the Stone Mountain City Council. At the federal level, he was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to a senior leadership role at HUD, where he also led disaster response efforts following Hurricane Hugo and the 1989 San Francisco earthquake. Today, Mayor Paul remains deeply involved in regional and national leadership, serving on the Atlanta Regional Commission, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Georgia Municipal Association, where he chairs the Transportation Committee. He’s also been active in party leadership, previously chairing the Georgia Republican Party. A longtime civic leader, he’s a past chair of the Sandy Springs/Perimeter Center Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Paul and his wife, Jan, have five adult children, nine grandsons, and call Sandy Springs home.
