Originally from Traverse City, Michigan, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2000, rising to E6 before earning his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2010. His career includes multiple deployments, support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and back-to-back Western Pacific deployments with the USS Carl Vinson Strike Group. Today, he continues to serve on active duty as a Lieutenant Commander at Naval Special Warfare Command. Beyond the uniform, Michael is deeply committed to helping service members and veterans build long-term wealth. He co-founded Compass Military Division , a real estate initiative focused on guiding military families through buying, selling, and investing in markets near major installations. He’s also the founder of Fortitude and serves as Director of Business Development with the Zinkil Group at Cornerstone First Mortgage. We talk leadership, transition, deployments, and how military families can turn homeownership into a powerful wealth-building tool.
