Rituals vs. Resolutions: How to Mentally "Cross the Threshold" for 2026

Fri Dec 26 2025

Listen

If you are listening to this, we are likely in that strange, quiet week between Christmas and New Year’s. It is a time where days blur together and time feels slippery. Usually, this is the week we obsess over New Year’s Resolutions. We buy planners, make lists, and intellectualize our growth. But have you ever wondered why most resolutions fail by February? In this episode, I’m sharing a realization that changed how I approach the New Year: We are trying to bring new habits into an old version of ourselves. We try to enter a new world without fully leaving the old one behind. I am recording this episode right before embarking on my first-ever solo international trip to Taiwan. While physically crossing a border is scary, I realized I needed to mentally cross a threshold too. Join me as I walk you through the psychology of "Liminal Space" and perform a live Burning Bowl Ceremony on the mic to release the heavy baggage of 2025. In this episode, we cover: 1. The Liminal Space: Understanding the psychology of the "hallway" between who you were and who you will be. 2. The Hero’s Journey: Why you need to "Cross the Threshold" to leave the Ordinary World behind, inspired by Joseph Campbell. 3. My Vulnerable Release: Listen as I physically burn my three biggest limiting beliefs of 2025. 4. Leadership Reflection: Why corporate leaders need to close the loop with their teams before setting new KPIs. Why Listen? Resolutions are intellectual, but rituals are somatic—they are physical. If you feel restless, anxious, or empty right now, this episode is your invitation to pause. Don't just change the calendar. Change the narrative. Let’s burn the old story so we can walk into 2026 light, open, and ready to lead boldly. If this episode resonated with you, make sure to FOLLOW The Love Ravina Podcast for more conversations on leadership, public speaking, and messy growth ❤️
