<p>A storytelling podcast, with first-hand amazing stories. Each story teller tells their own personal true story, with all the details of what happened. Animal attacks, plane crashes, mass shootings, and more – this show brings you these amazing stories. Each one is a true story - and the story teller is just a regular human being like you. But they have experienced something incredible and unbelievable, so they come on this podcast and share their true story in detail. Most of the storytelling podcasts currently available tend to focus on fictional content. You won’t find that here. The amazing stories you’ll hear on this show are always verified in advance as a true story – and the story teller (the guest) is the person who actually experienced that situation. The host, Scott Johnson, started this podcast because he’s a big fan of amazing stories himself – and this is a great way to hear each story teller recount in detail their true story and what they went through. Honor encountered an angry hippo

Fri Feb 06 2026

Listen

Here on the podcast we’ve several episodes with guests who have told the story of being attacked by an animal. These include a grizzly bear, a monkey, a shark, a rattlesnake, a tiger, a pair of dogs, an alligator, and a swarm of yellow jackets. But we haven’t yet had a story about a hippo attack. Until today. My guest today is Honor. She was traveling throughout Africa and she learned about the list of animals in Africa that cause the most fatalities. Hippos are number TWO on that list, and number one may surprise you. She told me what it was in our conversation. Hippos look like they would just want to roll over and scratch their belly. But don’t be fooled. They are extremely territorial, and can get very angry. And, as Honor saw first-hand, they are also quite fast.
