Becoming More Confident in Ourselves and Our Bodies as Women with Susan Walker

Thu Feb 05 2026

Listen

If you’re ready to grow with a global community of women, head to https://summit.womenthrivesummit.com/ to register for free ✨ What if the way you see your body isn’t the problem—but the story you’ve been taught to believe about it? In this deeply honest and empowering episode of Women Thrive, we go into the hidden layers behind body image, self-worth, and confidence—especially for women who look “fine” on the outside but are quietly at war with themselves on the inside. Our guest, Susan Walker, brings decades of clinical wisdom and lived experience to a conversation many women have been afraid to voice out loud. From navigating medical trauma and profound loss to confronting shame, guilt, and perfectionism around food and appearance, this episode peels back the surface of body confidence and gets to the real work beneath it. You’ll hear why dieting culture keeps women stuck, how trauma and self-esteem are deeply intertwined, and what it actually takes to make peace with your body—without punishment, deprivation, or self-criticism. This conversation is for the woman who’s tired of feeling disconnected from her reflection, exhausted by rules around food, and ready to stop “fixing” herself and start accepting herself. If you’ve ever felt trapped between loving your body and trying to change it, this episode will meet you exactly where you are—and gently show you a new way forward. ✨ About the Guest ✨ Susan Walker, M.S., L.P.C., is a psychotherapist, speaker, and author who has provided patient care to help others achieve emotional well-being and personal growth. Susan and her husband and business partner, Philip founded Walker Wellness Clinic in 1994. Susan has clinical expertise in treating stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, and body image issues. Susan is the author of Body Esteem: Piece of Cake and Peace of Mind, a groundbreaking book that was endorsed by Kenneth Cooper, M.D., M.P.H., founder of Cooper Aerobics Center. She created the concept of Body Esteem Quotient: Psychology Quotient; Nutrition Quotient; Exercise Quotient; and Fashion Quotient. Drawing on her clinical experience, she offers readers practical insights and strategies to boost one’s body esteem which creates body positivity and higher self-esteem. The book’s concepts are designed to empower individuals to use an intuitive eating style, stop comparing oneself to others, create an exercise prescription that fits your personality, and learn to become your own stylists. For more information, visit www.bodyesteem.com or Amazon. Susan’s hobbies are playing classical piano, ballroom dancing, reading, traveling, and cooking. Susan has chaired numerous charity events such as Mad Hatter’s for the Women’s Council, fashion shows and luncheons at Dallas Symphony Orchestra League and served on the board for preventing childhood obesity at Cooper Institute. Susan has been married to the love of her life, Philip Walker, an Englishmen for 31 years. Susan and Philip have a mischievous Siamese cat named Bigglesworth, who was named after a spitfire piolet who was a character in British childhood books that my husband cherished. 📢 Important Links 📢 Connect with our Guest: https://bodyesteem.com/ https://www.facebook.com/BodyEsteemBook  https://x.com/SusanWa26770554 https://www.instagram.com/bodyesteembook/ Connect with Women Thrive Media: Women Thrive Summit: https://womenthrivesummit.com/ Become a Guest on the Women Thrive Podcast: https://womenthrivemedia.com/podcasts Women Thrive Book: https://womenthrivesummit.com/book/ Women Thrive Magazine: https://womenthrivemagazine.com/magazine/ Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/women-thrive/exclusive-content
