While We Are Still Their World - Entry #65
Mon Feb 02 2026
In this opening entry of Season 3, I sit with a simple truth that feels heavier the longer I hold it: Right now, our children’s worlds are still small, and we are at the center of them.
Through a quiet journal entry written to my five-year-old son, I reflect on presence, attention, and the bittersweet knowing that this season won’t last forever. Montessori reminds us that children aren’t becoming something else, they are constructing themselves right now. And part of that construction is their deep pull toward home, safety, and connection.
This episode isn’t about holding on tighter. It’s about learning how to stay present without clinging. To prepare an environment that supports independence, while honoring the tenderness of being needed.
A reflection on fatherhood, impermanence, and what it means to witness our children fully while we still can. For every parent learning to grow alongside their child.
