DEFINITIONS & EVIDENCE

Know what the numbers actually mean.

A reply is not a booking. A booking is not a published episode. Here is how to read the evidence on this page and in your outreach.

Replies and inquiries

A reply is an incoming response. It may be positive, negative, automated, or a question. An inquiry shows interest in discussing the opportunity; it is not a confirmed appearance. When comparing rates, use the same cohort, time window, denominator, and reply classification.

Calls, bookings, recordings, and publication

A pre-record call is a qualification conversation. A scheduled recording has an agreed date. A completed recording has happened. A published appearance is available to its audience. Mary Ellen's story on this site describes dates for recordings, not a count of published episodes.

Audience estimates and fit

Audience figures are estimates rather than verified downloads unless the publisher supplies first-party evidence. Public keyword search is a starting list, not a guest invitation, semantic fit score, endorsement, or confirmation that a show is active and accepts guests. Check recent episodes and publisher guidance.

Earned media value

Earned media value compares coverage with an estimated equivalent advertising cost. It is not cash collected, attributed revenue, profit, or proof that the coverage caused a sale. Use it alongside actual appearances, audience relevance, referral data, and customer feedback.

Customer stories and research

The customer stories here are published customer-reported experiences, with sources linked. They are individual examples, not controlled experiments, representative averages, or guarantees. We have not created a new benchmark dataset for this page. External research keeps its own date, source definitions, and sample limits.

What the free brief does

The free brief queries PodPitch's existing public podcast directory by title and host keyword. It records the returned profiles and your selected topic, audience, and optional website. Its story angles and pitch are editable starter prompts, not AI-generated research or a verified outreach recommendation. No email address or payment is needed to download it.
