Heroin and opiate prescription pain medication addiction is a massive health problem that is pandemic and now threatens an entire generation of young people, aged 21-35, their families and their friends. From 2009 to 2013, Arizona deaths from heroin and prescription opiates (Percocet, Oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc) overdose have doubled and now claim the life of almost two young people per day. Nationally, more deaths now occur as a result of drug overdose than from automobile accidents. Dr. William Nelson has an ambitious goal of turning the tide of this horrible problem by cutting overdose deaths nationally by 50% in the next five years. There are a myriad of challenges that need to be accomplished in order to making such a huge impact on this overwhelming societal health problem. Jeff serves as the Executive Director of Admissions & Business Development developing and managing the admissions process to ensure clients and families are guided through the intake process with dignity and support. He also manages the business development through assisting the company’s mission and future goals by building community partnerships and overseeing marketing campaigns. He started with Rising Phoenix in 2019 as Director of Admissions & Business Development and has also served as Executive Director, managing the facility’s daily operations during his time with Rising Phoenix. Jeff began his career in behavioral health in 2015 and has previously served in national roles such as Program Director and Clinical Outreach Regional Manager which has allowed him to turn his passion of helping others into a career. In his free time, Jeff continues to volunteer his time with various community organizations and schools advocating awareness of mental health and substance misuse.
