The House Theory: Decluttering, Seasons, and the Subconscious

Thu Feb 05 2026

Listen

Have you ever randomly felt the urge to clean out your closet… scrub your shower… reorganize a drawer… or deep clean a space that wasn't even on your to-do list? Same. In this episode, I'm sharing what I call The House Theory — the idea that the parts of your home you feel called to declutter, clean, or reorganize might be reflecting something deeper happening in your subconscious. We're talking about how our homes carry energy, how decluttering can be a form of moving meditation, and why this season (hello, Year of the Snake + Lunar New Year) feels like the perfect time to shed what's no longer meant to come with you. Plus: postpartum bras, dusty corners, and why I will absolutely never go commando. Ever. In this episode, we cover: Why I decluttered 27 bags and it still looks like nothing happened The connection between seasonal rhythms and our instinct to reset our homes How different rooms can represent different parts of your subconscious The symbolic meaning of spaces like basements, bathrooms, closets, and kitchens How cleaning can become a spiritual practice (without being weird about it) The Year of the Snake, shedding old energy, and making room for what's next How to use intention to create a real internal shift through external change If you've been feeling heavy, stuck, uninspired, or like you're craving a reset… this episode might be your sign to clear a corner and see what shifts. ___________________ Instagram post referenced in the episode. The caption reads: Wait til you hear my theory on how our homes represent our subconscious minds and each space represents something different within us. 🔮 Like if you have a basement or lower level- that's your deep and usually dark subconscious (where's most of the shit you never unpack? 😏). Our closets represent our intended or hopeful outward identities; our bathrooms are a place of vulnerability & becoming anew. Still working out the kinks 😂 💫for now, this I know to be true: feel like you need to shed a skin or feel rejuvenated in your work and business? Tend to the spaces where it happens the most- either declutter your laptop, organize your Google drive and canva and your phone, and/or tend to your office or that dining room table where you do most of your work. 💫You must set the intention first- then move with that energy as you clean, clear, declutter, redecorate and shift the space. Then wait and watch the shift. 💫 Let me know if you have a practice like this one or if you try it for the first time and what shifts for you!
